what is common centre of mass
Dear manisha
every body has center of mass .But in many problem we have to consider more than one body with in one system .so to write equation of motion for this system having more than one body w need to find out the common center of mass .
for example we have 3 body placed at x=2 ,x=4,x=8 having mass 2kg ,5 kg and 10 kg respectively so common center of mass from the origin is
COM = (m1x1 + m2x2 + m3x3)/(m1+,2+m3)
= (2*2 + 5*4 + 10*8)/(2+5+10)
=104/17
