use the formulas g ( at a height h) = g (on surface ) * [ 1 - (2h/Re) ] g ( at a depth d ) = g (on surface) * [ 1 - (d/Re) ] (i) using this for the 1st part g(at height h) = 9.702 (ii) g (at surface) = 9.8 (iii) g (depth of 100m) = 9.79 (iv) g (depth of 50m) = 9.8 therefore the body will weigh minimum at a height of 100 m above the earth's surface ! answer is (A) .
