hi mohit,

look mohit there is not much difference between studies at colleges and at school, the basic funda is regularity & sicerety. In colleges what generally happens to students is that they get a lot of freedom and misuse it,they dont attend classes & suffer in semester exams. So the most important thing that i'll suggest you is to be regular to classes, attend tutorials and its enough. You are not required to study extra in IIT ,everything comes from the class notes only.

in this stream u'll generally deal with calculus at higher level, partial differential & integral calculus, abstract algebra, probability, numerical methods for computing & lots of programming, but u need not worry whatever  will be taught will be new & very interesting. And the packages are very high at par with comp science students

best wishes

hi mohit, i think u r thinking too much about math n computing , according to me der is nothing special required to study in dis branch,,, when u go der , if u wanna perform well den just give gud attention to ur studies after getting in der.And if u will take ur studies seriously den u can easily get gud grades so u needn't waste ur time from now as hw to study , u will on ur own when u get in der, In mca, generally der r courses of math of higher level n ya these math courses r relatively tougher dan other courses of iit but u can easily get away wid it if u r regular to ur studies..Also der r courses of comp sc n electrical dept.,, u will find des courses relatively easier dan ur math courses.

Hi

Mathematics and computing is a department that needs hard work and u'll need to attend regular classes. The mathematics courses are sometymes quite difficult and u need to work hard. Tentative list of the courses are :

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mathematics and Computing

This programme, first of its kind in the country, has come into existence due to the need of sophisticated mathematics for modern scientific investigations and technological developments. It provides a fusion of mathematics with computer science and financial engineering. The curriculum is designed to provide students with in-depth theoretical background and practical training in computer science, numerical computing and mathematical finance. Graduates of this programme will be ready for careers in software industries, financial institutions and government organizations or to pursue research. The duration of the the programme is four years and students are admitted through JEE.
