EX- WHICH IS MORE BASIC (CH3)2O OR (SiH3)2O ?

In case of (SiH₃)₂0 , Si-O bond shows p∏-d∏ bonding due to availability of vacant d orbital on Si atom. As a result of this lone pair of electron available with O atom are engaged in ∏ bond formation and are not available for donation.

But in case of (CH₃)₂O, C-O bond cant form such ∏ bonding as there is no vacant d orbital on C atom.The lone pair of electron of O atom are available for donation

hence (CH₃)₂O is stronger base than (SiH₃)₂O
