Biotech departments in every IIT has not had a very good placement record in the core sector as such. However, students have been successful in obtaining more generic high paying jobs like in investment banks and in consulting companies. Placements in the core sector is also expected to be bright as it is speculated that bio technilogy is soon picking pace in our country.
Research opportunities after 5 yrs of bio tech at any IIT is excellent.
So you must go ahead with your decision if you are confident of giving your best in the course.
