Hello sir/madam. On what grounds do some people have an affinity more towards 4 yr old courses and also make statements like 5 yr ones have no such greater values...And are students with the 4 yr ones given more value and ease on a latter stage for jobs and stuff or is there no such significant discrimination against the 5 yrs ka guys? Which 5 yr ones are such and which are the ones that are great actually? Thanks. Have a nice day!!

Hey Sandhya

There's absolutely no difference between a 4yr course and a 5yr course from the same department in the first three years. In the fourth year, a dual degree student has to take more courses than the usual 4yr degree students. However, the 5 years in a dual degree fetches you two degrees.

However, the jobs that 4yr Btech students land are almost the same kind of jobs that a 5 yr dual degree student gets. Hence, the one year additional stay as a dual degree on campus is not particularly useful in obtaining better jobs. Also, if you plan to pursue a PhD, there is a wider selection you can pick if you enter an integrated PhD course [MS + Degree] abroad.

In effect, either ways, a BTech degree is more preferred but Dual degree allows you to get a better branch at a lower rank.
