Hi could u tell me the approximate marks and rank one needs to secure a seat in any IIT old or new... I have heard a score below 200 does not fetch u seat so is it true?? I am appearing 4 JEE in 2011..

A rank under 3000 can get you in a old IIT but you might have to compromise on the stream thus if want a old IIT with a branch of your choice a rank under 2000 with 250 wud be . With 200 marks you have very low chances on old IIt .
But these cutoffs and expected marks may wary year by year depending on the difficulty level of the paper and performance of the students. Thus its suggested to try and get the maximum no of marks from your side .
