Let me first of all tell you that what so ever branch you get in IIT  have some or other scope that's y its there.

Now if we talk aout applied Mathematics, then definately this branch have scope in the feild of Academics, means as a Faculty, because faculties are rite now u can say one of the best payed employee.

And moreover if you are M.Sc with IIT then definately after sometime you will find your self as a best faculty with an approximate package of about 7 - 8 lakh per annum.
