EML or you can say extended merit list of IIT JEE , definately students obtaining eml are not getting surely into iit's , but if you clear the eml , then you are eligle for many other institute such as marine engineering and all,

Now if you talk about the packges then Starting Package depends upon your performance , in the placement selection process,

but then to also you get get the satisfactory package of around 2.5 to 3 lakh per annum .
