Now since the students are being shifted to new IIT campuses and are appointing new faculties. Will new IIT's still lack behind good NIT's. Suppose a student starts his B.TECH degree now onwards. Where would he stand after 4 years as compared to a student who has completed his B.TECH from NIT.

Dear Ankit,

As you know that a students who is passed from an IIT would be further known as an IITian no matter what was his branch or from which IIT  he has passed out.

Worldwide he would be known as an IITian, but same if you opt for NIT then after 4 years when you pass out our institute then almost 50% people might know about the NIT's.

So i think now you have got the answer of your question.
