dear akshant 
every branch in iit have a unique value , so, prefer your intrest rather than the placement status , 
beacuse beyond intrest , human being cannot perform to the maximum . 
so, u need to choose which branch you are intrested in ,, 
as of  now , the statistical records shows computer science and engg , as the most placement sector in iit . 
after that u can go for information and tech . branch
