The direction of the cross product can be found using right hand rule,
Point index finger in the direction the first vector A
Point middle finger in the direction of the second vector B
Thumb will point in the direction of the cross product C
c is towards west

The resulant vector of A &B is in the direction of perpendicular to the plane of containing A&B.
The direction of vector A isvertically upward and B vector point toward north. So the resulting vector points towards west.

Mathematical Approach-
Let us suppose the vertically upward direction to be Y-axis and North direction to be –Z-axis
So vector A can be represented by Aj^ [j^ is unit vector along Y-axis] and vector B can be represented by B (–k^) [–k^ is a unit vector along –Z-axis].
So Aj^ x –Bk^ = –ABi^[–i^ is a unit vector along –X-axis]
