what is the right time to start prepartion for m.tech? can any one do m.tech only if he is iitian(b.tech?pls help. what is the right time to start prepartion for m.tech? can any one do m.tech only if he is iitian(b.tech?pls help.
Its not necessary to be a B.Tech frm IIT to do M.Tech frm IIT. All u need a good GATE score to secure admission for M.tech in IIT. Gate is conducted by IIT’s in February, every year... I think August is the right time to prepare for GATE. Also from last year IIT’s have announced that GATE score will be valid for one year only. Hope ur query is answered.

Hey Virat, For gettin into IIT programme of 2 year M.Tech, you shld qualify through GATE exam with a minimum percentile (dependes on your department of interest) conducted by one of iits every year. Generally people give GATE in their final year and enter into IITs / IISc. But since GATE score has a validity of 1-year , you can give GATE in your pre-final year also. I feel that atleast one year preparation is required for exam as the competetion is severe (based on your field) A B.Tech from IIT,if wants to do M.tech-he'll change to dual degree (an integrated 5 year course of both B.tech and M.tech) . Note that this 5 year dual option is only for B.Tech iitians Since you are not from IIT, you have to enroll through GATE for 2 year programme. Hope this explains your query... gud wishes..!!!!!!
