Hi

The best time to start preparation is at the beginning of 11th class. Students are fresh after the break after boards and a lot more can be learnt. Students who start late often end up leaving some key topics of 11th class JEE syllabus. Also, if you start your preparation in 12th class then the amount of hard work is increased manifold due to additional pressure of 12th boards, so chances of getting a high rank in JEE are decreased. There is a big transition from the mugging up study of 10th class to more understanding based study of 11th class. So you shouldn't get bogged down by seeing the level of complexity in JEE exam.

Class X studies and preparing for JEE are two opposites, they are way too much diff. I do not question ur capability to do it by urself , but at certain steps u do need guidance from somebody who is aware about the trends of JEE. JEE has got a vast syllabus covering all of which is not a real possibility, so u need to decide the important topics, the order in which u need to study them, the time u should put in , the effort to put in without taking much stress. U need to keep all this and much more in mind while preparing for JEE.

I would suggest u to go for some kinda course be it regular or correspondence coz , u ll require guidance at many steps in the time to come. JEE is all about concept building and nt jst mugging up. If u are interested  then we can offer u are online course.

Prajvi,

If u want to prepare on your own u have to make sure that u give atleast 4 hrs on school going days n atleast 10 hrs on holidays , for IIT.

Secondly u must study from proper books as u wont have anyone to guide u personally

Planning is most important in self study

Plan out every single thing n follow it

Dont try to study from too many books at a time , it will confuse u n waste ur time

Whenever starting a new topic, start from one reference book n solve sums from other renowned books(again, dont use too many books for solving sums)

DONT NEGLECT THEORY behind the concepts

Make detailed compendiums for every subject

Revision is v v v important. If u prepare a chapter , revise it within 10 days( it takes only half hour to revise, just read the compendium, solve a few sums)

Mark good sums n do them again before final exam.

Join fiitjee or brilliant ( if u r totally focussed on jee , join fiitjee)

Focus on quality of study rather than quantity of study

Before starting ur studies, read the book , ' Psychology of succes by Anuj Khare'

I told u this coz i m also studying on my own

Wishin u best of luck for ur exams
