123 Points

first of all , let us assume that the system finally goes to 0 degrees celcius as both water and ice are to exist .

now, if 5 kg water at 20 C temperature comes to 0 C temperature , then , the heat released
= mC$\DeltaT$(Change in Temperature)
= 5X4.18X20=418 ….........................1
now similarly , when 2 kg ice comes to 0 degrees celcius , the heat requiered
=2X2.1X20=84
since this heat is less than the heat released , some amount of ice will melt also . latent heat of fusion of ice is 334 j per gram
now, let x gm ice has melted , then , total heat absorbed = 418-84=334=massXlatent heat of fusion

=> 334 = x X 334

THEREFORE , ONLY 1 GRAM ICE HAS MELTED INTO WATER .

SO , THE REMAINING AMOUNT OF WATER IN THE MIXTURE IS 5.001 KG OR 5001 GRAMS.
