is material science at iit kanpur nice for future and what will be the cgpa required by me to get my branch change to mechanical after first year?

You’ll definitely have a good future as you are studying in IIT but you’ll have less oppurtunities in public sector. For branch change, it depends on the class strength and on an average you should get above 8 at least.
