Squeeze or Sandwich Theorm:
If g(x) <= f(x) <= h(x)
and lim(x->a) [g(x)] = L lim(x->a) [h(x)] = L
Squeeze theorm says
lim(x->a) [f(x)] = L
Example:
g(x) = 2sqroot(x-1) – 1; h(x) = e^(x-2); f(x) = (x^2 – 3x + 2)/(x-2)
Find the value of lim(x → 2) [f(x)]
lim(x → 2) [g(x)] = 1; lim(x –> 2) [h(x)] = 1
since; g(x) <= f(x) <= h(x)
Then by squeeze theorm
lim(x → 2) [f(x)] = 1
