If a function is thrice differentiable then it means that the functions derivatives exist up to third order and the higher order derivatives don't exist.   If a function is differentiable, it need not be a constant valued. Differentiability of a function at any point x =a is concluded by checking the left hand differentiability and right hand differentiability.

While there are some functions that are either only  left hand differentiable or only right hand differentiable.

Usually, piece-wise functions or rational functions  exhibit such characteristics.
