Solution: The characteristic equation is m2 + 4 = 0, m = \pm 2i, then the complemenary solution is
yc = Acos 2t + Bsin 2t.

Dear student 
We take the denominator as characteristics equation. so the characteristics equation here will be m^2 + 4 = 0
Soution would be \pm 2i , 
So , the complemenary solution is
yc = Acos 2t + Bsin 2t.
