yes , you can through neet , see, genetic engg is a p.hd level course , and u can do also m.sc with this , and also research . 
so, go with iiser entrance test , it have 3 type of selection criteria , and also , take a look upon iisc , that is also great , 
and at last keep neet / aiims ,
