Hi
Production & industrial from IITR is a great option. It is a good college, with good faculty and infra. the stream has gt good future prospects, so u need not worry much, just perform good in ur academics.
Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the application of principles of physics and chemistry for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of various systems. Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines.
It requires a solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and energy. Mechanical engineers use the core principles as well as other knowledge in the field to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, motor vehicles, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and more
Production engineering and Aerospace Engineering are typically grouped with Mechanical Engineering. A bachelor's degree in these areas will typically have a difference of only a few specialized classes.
The term "industrial" in industrial engineering can be misleading. While the term originally applied to manufacturing, it has grown to encompass virtually all other industries and services as well. The various topics of concern to industrial engineers include management science, financial engineering, engineering management, supply chain management, process engineering, operations research, systems engineering, ergonomics, value engineering and quality engineering.
