why is carbon dioxide transported in dissolved form as compared to the oxygen?

Carbon dioxide has higher sollubility in water and readily dissolves with red blood cells.Hence they can be transported in dissolved form unlike oxygen which has a very low affinity to water and hence needs a carrier called haemoglobin for such process.
