MOST PLANTS PRODUCES LARGE NUMBER OF GAMETES BECUASE MANY OF THEM ARE DEPENDENT ON POLLINATORS FOR FERTILIZATION . SO TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL FERTILIZATION MOST OF THEM PRODUCE VERY LARGE NUMBER OF GAMETS.
MY DEAR, I THINK YOU WANT TO ASK ABOUT WHY MOSS PLANTS PRODUCE LARGE NUMBER OF GAMETES BECAUSE IT IS COMMON QUESTION AND IMPORTANT TOO. SO I AM POSTING ITS ANSWER ALSO.
Moss plants produce a large number of male gametes to increase the chances of fertilisation, as the eggs are located in the archegonium and the male gametes have to swim in water to reach the eggs for fertilisation to occur.
