The auger content of the sugarcane depends on two things
1. Biomass
2. Rate of respiration/photosynthesis
The temperature acts as a major role in determining the rate of respiration in plants.
Due to Low temperature during nights the rate of respiration increases than that of the rate during days . This is due to the cold temperature and hence it enhances the sugar content level in the stems of sugarcane.
Hope it helps.
