Dear student
Heterocyst and vegetative cells are symbiotically associated with each other where heterocyst provides with fixed nitrogen to the vegetative cells and vegetative cells act as the source of carbon and reductant for proper functioning of heterocyst.

DEAR FRIEND
Heterocysts are specialised nitrogen-fixing cells formed during nitrogen starvation by some filamentous cyanobacteria, such as Nostoc and Anabaena. They have polar nodule which is a thick wall on both the ends of the cell where it projects into the cell interior as a knob and has small pores which connect it with adjacent vegetative cells.
Thus, the correct answer is option C.
