The crystals formed in the plants are called raphides,they are madeo of calciumoxalate with different shapes.
Located in mesophyll cells with in specialised chambers called idioblasts
They are formed in specific plant families only.
Functions in protecting plants from herbivorous animals / plant predators.
Some crystals also secrete toxins through them to protect.
