What do you mean by the glycoproteins and glycolipids ?

Carbohydrates in the form of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides are bound  to proteins are called glycoproteins.
Carbohydrates in the form of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides are bound  to proteins are called glycolipids.
Glycoproteins and glycolipids project mainly into the extracellular domain.

glycolipids are the lipids with a carbohydrate group attached , their role is to provide energy and also serve as the markers for cellular recognition . 
glycoproteins are the proteins that contain oligosachharides chain covalently attached to polypeptide side chain .
