The raw materials for photosynthesis are CO2​, H2​O, sunlight and chlorophyll. 

 
Photosynthesis is a chemical process through which plants, some bacteria and algae, produce glucose and oxygen from carbon dioxide and water, using only light as a source of energy.
 
It takes place inside plant cells in small things called chloroplasts. 
 
Chloroplasts (mostly found in the mesophyll layer) contain a green substance called chlorophyll.
