frst of all u need to maintain a potential gradient beacuse the thyllakoid membrane is more having higher potential than thylakoid lumen . 
thus proton flow out from the thylakoid membrane through atp synthesis into the stroma , 
else atp cannot be formed .

HAI Tul Waghmode,
Due to splitting of water in PSII the Protons are generated inside of the thylakoid called as lumen.
Once the splitting process increases, it leads to acidity due to increased H+ ions accumulation.
Thus to decrease quantity of protons, the ATP synthase complex acts as proton pump (Motor) pumping all the protons (H+) outside the thylakoids from lumen to stroma.
This movement of protons decreases the acidiy in thylakoids.
