- Each chromosome is made up of 4 chromatids
- Onion has 8 chromosomes in its cells
- So 8 chromosomes would have 8x4=32 chromatids as mentioned in point 1
- In mitosis exact copy of parent cell would be produced so daughter cells would also have 32 chromatids
- Therfore during metaphase total number of chromatids would be = 32+32 = 64
