Suppose evolution on earth had occured in such away that there are 96 amino acids instead of 20 . DNA has 12 different types of bases and DNA synthesis occurs in the same way as today. The minimum number of bases per DNA codon would be what?

one base per codon,(12)^1= 12 codon, which can code 12 AA only but given AA is 96 

two bases per codon,(12)^2= 144 codon, which is sufficient to code for 96 AA 

and in ques we have to find MINIMUM NUMBER, so min no bases per codon is 2
