Since reproductive processes such as pollination and fertilization are independent of water, seed formation is more dependable(class 12 pg 37).can any one plz explain did ststement

In the text book it is given that the Pollintion and fertilization process are indepedent of water (does not require water).
where as seed formation (requires pollination and fertilization process) is dependent on fertilization and pollination.

So whether it indicates that seed formation,fertilisation, pollination takes place even in dry areas and offer advantages to angiosperms.then wat about seed formation in gymnosperm

For seed formation in all the plants fertilization is required (union of male and female gametes)
so seed formation is dependent on fertilization.
water not required for fertilization (independent)
microspore (male) and mega spore(female)-lower plants- bryophytes,pteridophytes and gymnosperms
pollen and ovule-Angiosperms
