Yes glycolysis is the first step of respiration that occurs in the cytoplasm. It is common for both aerobic and anaerobic organisms. It starts with breaking down of polysaccharides ( reserved food material example glycogen). At the end of glycolysis two molecules of pyruvic acid is formed

No it is not but yes it is always present whether aerobic respiration aur anaerobic respiration it always occurs
