In geitonogamy pollen grains of one flower of a plant moves to stigma of another flower of same plant while in Xenogamy pollens move from one flower of a plant to an another flower of an another plant
Advantages of self pollination include:
- Helps in maintaining purity of race
- Less chance of failure of pollination and less pollen wastage
Advatages of cross pollination
- New varities with useful characters are result of it
- Better progeny is formed and no inbreeding depression occurs
