question mark

Can fertilizers and pesticides get bio-magnified in terrestrial ecosystems? If they do then how is it possible, because plants take only that amount of fertilizer which is needed by it, and the left out remains within soil which ultimately gets passed to various wetlands and enter the aquatic food chain, then from where is it getting entry into the terrestrial food chain?
