If the distance between centres of two circles is greater than their sum of the radius ,then there will be 4 common tangents.2 of them are transverse common tangents and the other two are direct common tangents.so we can find in total 4 tangents.how to distinguish these tangents as transverse or direct ??

Dear student

Intersecting two lines will be transverse tangets and non intersecting lines will be direct

i figured out the answer. Even direct tangents intersect (not every time).point of intersection of direct common tangents divide C1C2 in the ratio r1:r2 externally.while transverse tangents divide internally.
