For p>=5, 
1st method(stick and stones)-imagine you have p-3 stations,in the gaps you imagine a stick ,so there will p-2 sticks, from these choose 3.
So answer is (p-2)C3.
 2nd method- total pc3 and subtract (3 consecutive + 2 consecutive)
