solve : (A - 3I)(A - 5I) = 0
A.A - 5AI - 3IA + 15I² = 0
A² - 5A - 3A + 15I = 0 [ as I² = I]
A² - 8A + 15I = 0
A² - 8A = -15I
A^-1 (A²) - A^-1(8A) = -A^-1 .15I
A - 8I = -15A^-1
A + 15A^-1 = 8I
1/2 A + 15/2 A^-1 = 4I
compare this to aA +bA^-1 = 4I
we get,
a =1/2 , b=15/2
a =1/2 , b=15/2
so,
a+b=8
hence, option (3) is correct.
