The equation can be written as 2[x]+4{x} = 3([x]+{x})+2 so that {x} = [x]+2. which means {x} is an integer. 
 
Since 0 \le {x} <1, this means {x} =0 and hence [x] = -2. This means x=-2 is the only solution
