basically ∑(b+x)(c+x) is just a short hand notation (where it is assumed that a, b, c are cyclically interchanged).
however, you can simply take the lcm and then cross multiply in the equation to obtain the same result, ie, you can solve the equation using the ‘normal’ methods also.
