let z1/z2= z
then |z+1|=|z –1| (given)
so distance of z from 1 and – 1 is equal, which is possible iff it lies on perpendicular bisector of the join of – 1 and 1.
the perpendicular bisector just so happens to be the imaginary axis. since arg is given to be never m*pi, so z cannot be zero. hence, z=z1/z2 is always a purely imaginary number.
