if one root of the equation (p-m)x^2 +px+1 be double of the other and if p is real show that m is greater than or equal to 9/8.

I think you just got one thing wrong
m is less than or equal to 9/8
let alpha be the one root and used some and product of roots
here i'm attaching the solution
