If a set does not have supremum (infimum), then does it mean that it has no maximum (minimum)?

hello fathima, note the following fact:
if a set has a maximum, then IT IS the supremum.
now, if there did exist a maximum, then the supremum would automatically exist and be equal to maximum. 
hence, the above statement is true that If a set does not have supremum (infimum), then does it mean that it has no maximum (minimum).
