Hi Student

a^x + a^-x > a^y + a^-x

a^-x is common and can be cancelled out on both sides (please check if there is some change in this )

a^x > a^y

SInce x>y, the above inequality will hold true when a>1 not for 0<a<1.
So please check the question again
