now let the nested fraction be equal to x.Now the expression under 1 goes infinitely.If observed the expression under 1 is the same as the whole expression i.e x.Therefore2=1/x=x.If solved gives x=1_+(plus or minus)sqrt of 2

let y=2+1/2+1/.....

y-2=1/2+1/2+.....

y-2=1/y (because let y=2+1/2+1/.....)

y^2-2y-1=0

solve the equaion to get 2 roots 

        i.e 1(+or-)sqrt(2)

 since the question says 2+1/2+....     means answer is +ve . hence answer is 1+sqrt(2)
