A smooth wedge A is fitted in a chamber hanging from a fixed ceiling near the earth’s surface. A block B placed at the top of the wedge takes a time T to slidedown the length. If the block is placed at the top of the wedge and the cables supporting the chamber start accelerating it upward with an acceleration of ‘g’, at the same instant, the block will

Hello student,
When chamber starts moving up by acceleration ‘g’, pseudo force mg acts downward on block.
Driving force is increased from mg sin \thetato 2 mg sin\thetahence acceleration is increased.
So the block willtake a time shorter than T to slide down the wedge
Thanks and Regards

No the answer is like this ... if the cable with the block at left at the same time .. the block will not be accelerated with respect to the wedge and hence the bolck won`t come down ..

When chord got broken both move downward with same acceleration I.e. gravitation. Mass has no role to play. Both move same distance in unit time. Hence no relative motion so block will remain at same position.

But when wedge started moving up with acc g then block will face twice the gravity. It acceleration will increase twice and hence will take less time in covering same distance.
