70% passed in C so fail in C 30%
60% passed in Comp. Arch. so fail in Comp. Arch 40%
so total fail %= 70%
but 25 % fail in both that means 25 % included in both 30% fail in C and 40 % fail in comp arch. 
but we have to count students only once so we have to subtract 25% from 70% 
70%-25%=45%
so total failure %=45% 
so total pass %=55%
Given that students pass in both subj are 220 i.e total pass students are 220 
let total students be x
so 55% of x=220
x=400
