Dear student
 
LCM of .35 and 0.42 = 2.1
 
Hence
 
3 (x - 0.4) - 3 (x - 2.71) = 2.1 (x +6.1)
 
3x - 1.2 - 3x + 8.13 = 2.1 x + 12.81
 
6.93 = 2.1 x + 12.81
 
2.1x = 5.88
 
x = 5.88 /2.1 = 588 /210 = 28/10 = 2.8
