There are only 21 kinds of amino acids that could in protein synthesis of varying number.

Sine a permutation combination of 4 N bases taken 3 at a time gives us (4×4×4)= 64 different codons which only code for 21 amino acids.
Like wise a combination of 12 N bases takes 2 at a time will give us 12×12 codons which are sufficient enough for the production of 1090 amino acids
Hence the answer would be 2
