The Reaction will be a Redox Reaction which can be described in these half reactions:
Oxidation Reaction (i): SO2(g)+2H2O(l)→SO2−4+4H++2e−
Reduction rxn (ii):
MnO−4+8H++5e−→Mn2++4H2O
Overall rxn: = 5×(i)+2×(ii) =
2MnO−4+5SO2(g)+2H2O(l)→2Mn2++5SO2−4+4H+
